Sun 4 July

Harbour Loop                                                           All bikes                     Medium

A fun ride starting at MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) at 9.30am.  From there we ride up and over the Harbour Bridget and up to Miller Street, through Crows Nest to Naremburn.  A possible stop for a quick cuppa, it will just depend on how quickly we arrive at Naremburn, or else we can push on to our next stop at Rhodes.  From Naremburn we cycle along the Lane Cove cycleway to North Ryde and through Meadowbank to Rhodes.  A well earned rest for coffee/lunch. Our return trip back to the city takes us through Bicentennial Park and Concord to Five Dock and then through Lilyfield and on to the city.

This is a lovely ride for a Sunday on a lot of back streets and cycleways, avoiding busy roads.  It will be suitable for all bikes, although mountain bikes will have to work a little harder.  The ride is rated medium as it is 45 km long and there are some shortish hills to climb.

Remember to bring your sunscreen, hat, water and spare tubes.

Let me know if you are coming along with your mobile number in case of bad weather.

Sun 11 July

Hornsby - Mt White- Hornsby                               Road/Hybrid bikes                Medium-Hard

This week's ride is a scenic, yet brisk ride along the Old Pacific Highway, from Hornsby to Mount White and back to Hornsby. (Roughly 70 km roundtrip)

This ride has some good hills and is rated medium to hard. It is suitable to road bikes and hybrids. (If you have a mountain bike and are quite fit, you're welcome to give it a go.)

Because most of the car traffic use the freeway, Old Pacific Highway has relatively few cars and many avid cyclists, making it a very pleasant ride. It has also been recently resurfaced, so the downhills can be quite a thrill!

We will regroup and refresh at the Mount White Cafe, formerly known as Road Warriors. They serve breakfast and have good coffee and banana bread, but they also don't mind if you bring something of your own to eat.

Trains from Central depart at 8:28 or 8:45 and arrive at 9:20 and 9:21, respectively. We will depart Hornsby Station at 9:30.

As always, remember to bring: water, snacks, sunscreen and a spare inner tube. It's likely to be quite cool, so you will want to check the weather and dress accordingly.

Sun 18 July

Tempe to Lake Parramatta                                 All bikes                       Medium

Leaving from Tempe Station carpark at 9am. We will then cycle along the Cooks River cyclepath to Newington, where we can stop for morning tea, then cycle onto Lake Parramatta via Parramatta River and some quieter back streets. There is a small cafe at Lake Parramatta if you would like some lunch, but we can see what people would prefer to do on the day. This is a pleasant scenic ride for most of the way, and you can discover a small lake tucked away from the busy central business area of Parramatta. There will be two options for the return trip. Option 1. is cycling back to Parramatta station, approx. 10mins ride from the lake. Option 2. is cycling back to Tempe station via the M2 cyclepath, through Lidcombe and Rookwood Cemetery, then back onto the Cooks River Cyclepath...this will of course make the distance longer!

Graded as medium and mostly flat, approx. 35km's to the lake and 65km, if cycling back to Tempe. All styles of bicycles are suitable for this ride.

Please bring spare repair kit with bicycle tube to fit tyre (just incase of flat tyre), a pump, possibly warm weather gear such as wind jacket (if cold), some spare change for munchies, and of course friends, partners, or occasional flings are welcome.

Sun 25 July

Royal National Park,Waterfall                            Road/Hybrid                  Medium/Hard

Today we commence our ride at Waterfall Station and ride through the Royal National Park to Bundeena where we will stop for coffee or lunch (they make the best thick shakes there). We will then backtrack a few km before we head to Audley where we will cross the weir and exit the park near Sutherland to either ride back down the highway to Waterfall Station (for those who have cars to return to) or to Sutherland station for those who are catching the train home).  The total distance is about 60km.

This is a relaxing ride on mostly quiet roads. There are two hills to climb; otherwise, it is reasonably flat riding with a total distance of about 60km. The ride is best undertaken on a road or hybrid, but can be ridden on a mountain bike.

For those people who don’t want to do the 60km you can choose to take the ferry from Bundeena back to Cronula and then catch a train home which would be about 30km.

Don’t forget to bring a spare tube or repair kit, pump, water, sunscreen and $ for coffee/food at Bundeena.

Catch the 8.40am express train from Central which will arrive at Waterfall at 9.22am, where we will aim to commence the ride at 9.30am (note this express train does not stop at Redfern).
If you are joining this ride please let me know
